Thanksgiving in Brazil

When the Ambassador of Brazil came to Washington, D.C., he was very impressed with the holiday. He decided to bring it back to his own country. In Brazil, Thanksgiving is a way to thank God for good harvests. It is also known for carnival celebrations around this time. This tradition has been celebrated since 1949 on the fourth Thursday of November. The dishes shown in this image are very similar to what Americans prepare on Thanksgiving. The only difference is the fact that there is no cranberry sauce. This is because there are no cranberries in Brazil!
